Hair help again!?!? Soft Curls!?

Can someone please help me! If you're a hair expert or just someone who might happen to know! How do i get soft curls/waves like in the following pictures?? I'm biracial, but my hair is straight right now (so it's more like relaxed African American hair). Everytime I try to curl my hair with a curling iron, it NEVER CURLS OR STAYS!! Should I try hot rollers? Someone please help!

I am not a professional stylist, but I do my hair and my two daughters. My oldest daughter has a hair texture similar to yours - curly when wet, but can be straightened with a flat iron. The style you have in your pictures is how she loves to wear her hair. Here is what I do to help her get it:

The first thing is you need to have hair that length or a little shorter - less than shoulder length is going to be hard because it will curl, more than wave.

Second, usually when I am pressing out her hair with the flat iron, I just turn it a half turn once or twice as it goes down. Use light curling wax as you do it.

Third, if she wants to wear it straight and then wear it wavy. The second day after she has it straight, I do thin to medium size sections and use a light dab of curling wax. Use a 1 1/2" curling iron and wrap it around that. Let it cool before you comb it out so the curl will stay.

This should help you, but it will take practice. Trying to get your hair that type of wave is a little hard, but it can be done. Good luck. :)

Try using big rollers, they are hard to do yourself but you will get the same effect. Just try not to blow dry too much. Put the curlers in when your hair it almost dry and spray it a bit and then use the blow drier.

I am not sure this will work with your hair type but have you tried the "twist pink bendable skinny rollers?" They have pink plastic all over a bendable wire - you can twist them in different directions and they do put a nice wave in, You say you have tried a curling iron, but have you used a product designed to style your hair to get the right amount of curl? Check with a

local hair stylist at a salon for a product that will make the difference - or sometime a change in a shampoo with styling ingredients may work.....good luck? p.s. love the pictures, oh to have all that long hair...maybe it is extensions?? :0)

Also, try big rollers, then put them in before going into shower, the steam maybe enough to cause your hair to be full when you take them out...when you take them out do it gently and when they are all out bend over and shake your head....flip your head back and add with your hands a light touch of

mousse for the hair - it should help to hold the wave you want.

Good luck!

if you have relaxed your hair it will be difficult to curl it with an iron. try a thermal active styling product. it protects from heat and aids in staying power. if you haven't relaxed your hair try it anyway. use a 1 1/2" or larger barrel iron to achieve that curl.
